Dean’s List - Indianapolis Colts. The Colts remain on the Dean’s List for the second report card of the NFL 2009 season. The Colts are now the lone unbeaten in the AFC. Peyton Manning and crew have had some scares and it hasn’t been easy in some cases.

Week 8 NFL Fantasy Football Studs + Duds

Maurice Jones Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars: For the second straight week, Mighty Mouse tops my list on the Studs category. He rushed for 177 yards against the struggling Titans defense but the most impressive stat is that he did this all on 8 carries.

Sleeper of the Week: Ryan Grant RB GB – He is running against one of the worst run defenses in the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are giving up over 160 rushing yards a game. Grant seems to be on the verge of a break-out performance, but just one good run short of achieving it. Also working in his favor is that the Packers offense is heating up.

Michael Crabtree - I doubt he is out there, but you never know. I drafted him in two of my leagues and had to drop him early on in one due to space and injuries. Crabtree had no mini-camp and in Week 7 is already expected to get up to 15 plays.

Are there any Philadelphia Eagles fans really surprised about the Oakland Raiders game? Andy Reid has continued to skate by for the last five years on mediocrity, reputation, and a cushy schedule. How does a guy that has been to and lost one Super Bowl in 11 years continue to be treated as if he is Vince Lombardi? Enough is enough and it is time for a change!

Out of all the past weeks in the NFL, week 6 seems to be the most important in terms of declaring who is the cream of the crop in the NFL. Teams are coming off huge wins and heartbreaking losses, while other teams have yet to be challenged thus far. The headline matchup of the week has to be the New York Giants going to play in the Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.

I stated in my Week 4 preview blog that it was going to take the next three games (Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers) to determine if the Denver Broncos were a team to be taken seriously. The Broncos approach Week 6 still undefeated and heading into the last leg of games that would make them a contender in the AFC. Win, loss or draw at this point the Denver Broncos are for real. They have a great head coach leading the way in his first season and a team on a mission to prove that they can complete the goal of raising the Vince Lombardi trophy in January. The last two times the Denver Broncos started the season 6-0 they won the Super Bowl, it will be interesting to see if Denver can keep that tradition alive against the Bolts this Week.

Week 6 in the NFL 2009 season features a slate of average games, headlined by two tremendous matchups. The Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens clash in a defensive fan’s dream game. Yet, all eyes will be on New Orleans as the New York Giants end their series of scrimmages and play the Saints in a battle of unbeatens.

The New York Giants may be the biggest 5-0 fraud of the season. Even Antonio Piece remarked that last week’s game against the Oakland Raiders felt like a scrimmage. As it turns out the “test” in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys wasn’t much of a test at all. Going 5-0 against Dallas, Tampa Bay, Washington, Oakland, and Kansas City is nothing I am impressed with.

5. The Raiders and Rams don’t show up to play Football

The new competition every Sunday seems to be which one of these teams plan on scoring the fewer amounts of points on Sunday. Both of these franchises are currently racing for the #1 draft pick in the 2010 draft this coming spring. One team has a Quarterback on his way to the bust and buffet line with JaMarcus Russell while the other has…Kyle Boller? Yeah remember him? He was supposed to be the future of the Baltimore Ravens, how did that work out? Just ask Joe Flacco.

Fantasy Football Week 5 is officially in the books. By now you have an idea of who is for real or who was a one-week wonder. Fantasy Football players this week were treated to several zeroes and heroes due to a variety of reasons. There were plenty of heroes who overachieved as well as zeroes who decided to take the day off. I present to you this week’s Fantasy Football Heroes and Zeroes.

Matt Schaub – Schaub can be a very frustrating quarterback at times, as can be the coaching of Gary Kubiak. Schaub is one of those kinds of quarterbacks that like to throw in clunkers from time to time to remind you that you don’t own Drew Brees. The great thing about Schaub is that those clunkers rarely come two weeks in a row.
