Although it is a week late, Sony has announced the 2.53 Firmware update for the PS3 is now available. The update adds full screen Adobe Flash support to the PS3 web browser, which means you can watch YouTube videos when you need a rest from gaming. Does anyone surf the web with their PS3?

Although T-Mobile only launched the Google Android G1 phone a little over a month ago on October 30, they’ve already started slashing prices to move them. Initially customers in the UK had to sign a £40 monthly contract in order to get the phone for free. Now new customers can get a free phone for a £30 tariff.

The upcoming Nintendo DSi was released in Japan on November 1, 2008, and for the month of November 535,379 of the DSi units have sold. The DSI will not be sold in the USA, or outside Japan, until either the first or second half of 2009, the exact date is still undecided.

Nokia revealed its N97 phone, which is meant to compete head-to-head with Apple’s iPhone, and Google’s G1. The N97 has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 32 GB of storage which is expandable to 48 GB via a 16 GB memory card, a 5 megapixel camera, a GPS with turn-by-turn directions, and a 640×360 16:9 touchscreen.

The one weak area is in the applications. Although the N97 is open to third-party developers, it may have been smarter to do that, plus run a virtual space that allows iPhone and G1 apps to be installed and run on the phone. If you’re going to compete, blow the customer’s, and competition’s, socks off.

Joost may have lost the online video war to Hulu a while ago, but they may have won the battle to bring the format to iPhones. The company has released a new iPhone app which streams over 46,000 videos for free, including full movies such as Men in Black and Starship Troopers.

It appears Netflix isn’t the only one streaming video to Tivo. Amazon appears to be launching their own Amazon Video on Demand, as seen above in the Tivo menu. Although the "Available in High Definition" menu option doesn’t work yet, it appears it will soon.

Microsoft has officially confirmed the new Xbox 360 Arcade will have its own 256 MB of internal storage. A Microsoft spokesperson said:

Google has released a new Gmail desktop gadget, for Windows only, that provides access to your Gmail account with all the features you’d find by logging into Gmail directly. With the new Gmail gadget you can read, search, send, star messages, archive, open, report as spam, and more. Right click is also enabled for more options. The shortcut options found in the web-based Gmail are also available. To log into different accounts you can run multiple instances of the gadget.
