The 96th Tour De France 2009 Cycling race started on July 4, 2009 from Monaco and will be ended on July 26, 2009 from Paris.With 21 stages the 2009 Tour De France will take the riders over 3500 kilometers through Monaco, France, Spain, Andorra, Switzerland and Italy. This is one of the largest cycling competitions.

There are about 180 participants taking part in exclusive Tour De France 2009 cycling race. Fabian Cancellara from Team Saxo Bank is taking the lead in overall standing of this tournament. Kim Kirchen from Columbia-HTC, who wore the yellow jersey for several stages last year and finished seventh, will also be looking for good result. The Tour organizers have decided on a few unique changes for this year edition of cycling premier race.

This year each of the 20 teams comprising 180 total riders will be faced with 21 stages. The 21 stages like, 10 flat stages, 7 mountain stages, 1 medium mountain stage, 2 individual time-trial stages, and 1 team time-trial stage.
