Rudy Fernandez injury Report

Fernandez, who played on the Spanish national team that won the silver medal in the Beijing Olympics, is averaging 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 ists in 25.8 minutes with Portland this season.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez sustained a soft tissue injury to his right upper chest and side marker lamps range in the third quarter of Monday night's game vs Los Angeles Lakers. X-rays and CT scan were both negative.

The injury happened at the end of the third quarter as he went up at the rim but was fouled by Trevor Ariza, who was issued a flagrant-2 for his excessive contact. Fernandez will be kept overnight at an area hospital for observation. He is listed as questionable for Wednesday game vs the Dallas mavericks. Fernandez had just hit a 3-pointer to put the Blazers up 81-51 when he was fouled. He left with 11 points.

Fernandez driving to the basket when Ariza fouled him. The rookie from Spain fell hard on his elbow and his hip and remained exposed under the curve for several minutes. Fernandez was conscious and alert when he left the court and he had full movement of his extremities, the team said. But he experienced pain in his chest and was taken to hospital for further evaluation.

The Blazers held a 83-55 lead with 2.2 seconds left in the third quarter when the foul occurred. Portland went on to win 111-94. It is a dangerous game. He (Ariza) only took him out of the air, Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. Read more information click Here.
