Luke Donald put the disappointment of finishing joint-second in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth behind him yesterday by winning the Madrid Masters to end a four-year title drought. Eight days ago a double-bogey seven on the penultimate hole of the West Course all but ended Donald’s hopes of success in the European Tour’s flagship event as he finished one shot adrift of Simon Khan. But the Englishman showed great composure yesterday, an eagle at the par-five 16th in a final round of 67, five under par, proving decisive in his victory by one stroke from Rhys Davies. |
