Fernando Alonso and his Renault F1 car jumped to the top of the timesheets to lead the final Formula One practice for the 2009 Monaco Grand Prix. The Spaniard set a time of 1:15.164 around the tight city street circuit.
Running second quick was the winner of four of the first five races Jenson Button. The Brawn GP man was just .069 slower than Alonso at 1:15.233. His teammate Rubens Barrichello was fourth quick.
The resurgence of McLaren and Ferrari continued this weekend as both teams kept their cars in the top five in all three practice sessions. This time Hekki Kovalainen turned the top trick and was third quick.
