A household of two Olympic sailors is a potent mix of ego, training schedules, managing injuries and organising competitions. And Ayton, 30, who has decided to join with Saskia Clark in the 470 class after Yngling was dropped for the London Games, is doing everything possible at their Weymouth home to make sure Dempsey has no distractions. So it is Ayton who is largely juggling the demands of being a full-time mother with being a full-time athlete. "We run the household as if Nick is not there and I take responsibility [for Thomas]," said Ayton. "Nick was fourth in Beijing so it is important that he has no regrets. He has to know when he is at the [London] Olympics that he has no regrets, that he has given it his absolute all. |
