
The Soccer City corresponds to highest technical standards of modern football stadiums. Also the visual appearance of the Soccer City designed by the South African architects of Boogertman Urban Edge & Partner sets a landmark for the FIFA world cup 2010. For the realization of the unconventional design the architects rely on European know-how. A football stadium like an “African Pot” that shines in typical African colors: The expertise of two Austrian companies makes this unconventional project possible: Rieder Smart Elements produces 30,000 square meters of fibreC elements forming the façade of the stadium. Valenta Metallbau develops more than 100,000 specially designed steel elements for the sub-construction. The outer skin of the arena spans 43,000 square meters in total. |
