The Ohio State University’s football (sports) team is called as Ohio State Buckeyes. The team name is derived from the state tree of Ohio. Since 1922, the Buckeyes have played their home games in Ohio Stadium. Since 2001, the Buckeyes head coach is Jim Tressel.

Ohio State Buckeyes team is a member of the Big Ten Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, playing at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.
