Mandatory Overs In Test Cricket

Mandatory overs in test cricket are minimum 90 overs in a day. Test cricket is played for a maximum up to five days, on each day there are two three hours sessions. The Bowling team is required to bowl minimum of 90 overs, in very rare case they can bowl more. For completion of the 90 overs, half and hour extra is given.

If there is no chance of winning of any team then match will draw between both the teams. If there is chance to win of any team but overs is complete then extra 6 overs is given to play for the results. Normally 6 hours is given for the test match if the conditions are OK like lighting. Usually, in test cricket 13-15 overs per hour is the visible over speed. But conditions background is also considered.

There are three sessions in a test cricket:

First session for 2hrs - morning to lunch
Lunch time is given for 40 minutes.
Second session for 2hrs - lunch to Teatime
Tea is given for 20 minutes.
Third session for 2hrs (may be more) - Tea to end of the play.
