IPL Auction 2010 - Player Auction for Indian Premier League 2010

For third edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai juncture is all set for auction of players.From all Test playing nations as many as 66 players will be up for auction in Mumbai Tuesday, 19 January 2009. Only 12 cricketers out of 66, the IPL franchises will buy, in which the cricketers returned from Indian Cricket League (ICL) are included.

Sundar Raman, Chief organiser of IPL said that there is little scope for more than 12 players and auction will be high and anything could be happened at last moment on the eve of auction. He also said that before the end of contract, the player should be paid the auction amount. If a franchise owner buys a player from nine Test playing nations, he will get prize money of USD 75,000. He further added that for both IPL and Champions League Twenty20, which will be till December 31, 2010, the players will have one year contract.

From England and West Indies, Eight players each are up for IPL auction. Form Pakistan, Australia and South Africa, Eleven cricketers will be available for auction while nine players of Sri Lanka vie in IPL 2010 auction. From New Zealand, four players are up for auction and from Bangladesh, Canada and Holland, one player each is up for auction. Fast bowler of New Zeeland, Shane Bond and batsman of Australia, Damian Martin are players, who returned from rebel cricket league ICL got the entry at last moment. From the auction Pakistan pacer Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Yousuf has been excluded due to Asif was banned found positive in Dope Test at the inaugural edition of IPL.
