Just 22 years old, Men's moguls skier Alexandre Bilodeau made superb history on Sunday night, as he become the first Canadian athlete to win Olympic gold medal on home (Canadian) soil at Vancouver 2010. More than 500 athletes have competed for Canada in the Olympics at home, and among them Alexandre Bilodeau is the first to win Olympic Gold Medal as he gave marvelous performance in the freestyle skiing moguls in Cypress Mountain. It's just the beginning of a good party in Canada." Silver medal went to 2006 champion and the Vancouver-born Australian, Dale Begg-Smith, who collected 26.58 points. While the American Bryon Wilson won the bronze medal by claiming 26.08 points. Bilodeau and Wilson were the only two men in the finals who urge try a backflip with two twists on the top jump. Wilson said, "A year ago, I would've been just happy to make the Olympics, that was my first goal." Bilodeau told wiping tears from his eyes, “My brother is my inspiration”. “He taught me so many things in my life. I was one of the most surrounded guys. I have great friends in the stands waiting for me. I’ve got everything on my side". Canada can finally breathe a vast sigh of relief to get that huge monkey off their backs with Bilodeau’s victory! The pressure is also now off of them to win the first Canadian gold on home soil for the rest of the athletes.
