Bring your fiancé and your parents with you -- who would turn down free cake? -- and have everyone put in their two cents. Make sure you try different combinations of wedding cake flavors and fillings. Tell your baker what your menu will be and have him or her help you find the right flavors to complement it.

Choosing the right pastry chef or bakery requires research and preparation. Bring your own ideas when meeting with the pastry chef, but listen to his thoughts and reasoning and work together to create the cake design.
