Elver park fireworks on 4th July 2009
The skies light up on Elver Park, Madison's Westside as the Independence Day is nearer and 4th July celebration has started all over America. The people are excited to see the fireworks this year as it is one of the most favorite of viewers and it is also liked by the people all over the world and the pictures of fireworks are amazing and eye touching.
Thousands of people are expected on Friday night at Elver Park for the festivities and fireworks. The people who were working behind the scenes of annual day to set up the fireworks show told that it takes a long time and lot of work to pull off.
Andy Jaeckel, of Bartolotta Fireworks told that everyone thoughts that you can do fireworks within 5 minutes but they do not realize how the work is done and how much time it is needed. He does more then 30 fireworks in a year and he told that Elver park fireworks are largest among all his fireworks. Jaeckel's crew will use at Friday’s show the shells that range from 3 inches to 6 inches- "the larger the shell, the larger the blast". The fuses for each shell are about 30 inches long and they light on the spot.
Within just 30 seconds spectators will see more than 400 shells alone will brighten the finale. Wooden racks hold the guns that will fire the shells into the air. Jaeckel told that they will start in a single row then double, triple and going on spreading. They have made very special shells that will come out in the shape of heart or star or something other like that with special effects.
The display is put on by Mid-West Family Broadcast, Woodmans, the city, and other sponsors. Tom Walker, President of Mid-West Family Broadcasting told that with a half hour fireworks display, costs were running over 50-thousand dollars to do security work. That was too much money for anyone to be able to underwrite, so they have decided this year to hold the fireworks on July 3. It will save them a huge amount as there will be no holiday pay involved because as per the union contract with police they had to pay triple amount to them on holidays. The fireworks will start at dusk Friday and the celebrations are completely free for all.
