Instructions To Make Paper Mache:

Paper mache is an easy technique of craft, with the use of it we can create craft items like bowls, decorative accents, and piñatas or just about anything you can dream up with paper mache.

Paper Mach Glue:

You can make paper mach glue like substance at home. With the use of flour, we take five parts of water into one part of flour and mix it until it becomes a creamy and smooth mixture, put the mixture to a low rolling boil for about three or four minutes now add salt and mix it properly, put the mixture to cool before using, the paper mach is ready.

The other paper mach wallpaper paste and the paper mach glue, they both can easily available in the market.

The other paper mach wallpaper paste, its process is to mix one part of wallpaper paste with three parts water, then stirring well. The paper mach glue, its process is to take three parts of white glue and one part of water or use liquid starch at full strength, mix it properly.

Paper Mache Forms:

Paper mache project’s base is the form. To prepare an interesting shape, we can use anything we like, as cardboard boxes, balloons, styrofoam balls or other shapes, or any other materials. If you want to make a specific shape like person, animal or birds, to create your form, use masking tape with pieces of cardboard or styrofoam.

Paper Mach Basis:

You have the paper mach form and glue now you get ready to start. The other materials you will need are here:

• Newspaper strips, torn about 1 inch wide and six inches long (you can also use gift wrap or brown paper bags)
• Tissue paper, beads, glitter and other accents (optional)
• Paint brushes
• Poster paints

Instructions:

• At a time work with one strip of paper, take the glue and dip the paper in it, get it well saturated on the both sides. With the help of your fingers remove extra glue and take the form place the strip on it and with your hands smooth it gently.
• Add the strips of paper continuously to the form until the form completely covered with paper strips. Now for 24 hours, set it aside to let the glue dry.
• At least two more times repeats the step. Now on your form have three layers, between each layer allow the glue to dry. According to your desire about the thickness of paper mach, you keep the process going on.
• After completed the layering, put the glue to dry. After drying glue you paint the figure with poster paint and the brushes. For drying paint set your project, after drying it decorate it with the use of beads, tissue paper, glitter or other items.
• If your creation is for hanging, use fishing line or a strong needle to punch small hole at the top.
