Yellow Raspberry is now available in market

The yellow raspberry is finally ready to add a new color in your pavlova or trifle for dessert. For the first time, the new variety of raspberries is going to hit British supermarkets on 17th August, 2011. The Yellow raspberries are being grown for Tesco from one of the UK’s biggest berry growers, Hall Hunter. Initially, they will be trialed in 10 Tesco stores in the South East and if they become popular then they are expected to sell nationwide from next year. Now, with the arrival of Yellow variety of raspberry, buyers have three choices of raspberry. This variety blows the raspberry market wide open also. The yellow raspberry has a less sharpness with sweet taste than its traditional red raspberry. Because of its yellowish-brown color, it is said named the ‘champagne raspberry’. The yellow raspberries cost £1.50 per 125g punnet.

Yellow raspberry plants are results of genetic mutation of red raspberries. In growing habit; they are similar to red raspberries. Yellow raspberries are mostly grown in the Northern states. It will produce greatest on sandy soils that are rich in nutrients. Raspberries tend to rise in popularity and now-a-days people are highly demanding for the new types. Considering this aspect, British growers are tending to produce unusual varieties of traditional berries since the last few years, for example 'black' raspberry. 'Black' raspberry is as juicy as a blackberry but comprise with the texture of a raspberry. As it have high amount of antioxidants that can renovate damaging molecules in the body, relieve damaged cells and demolish free radicals, it becomes highly demanded fruit in market.
