"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." ~Oprah Winfrey Celebration is a part of life and in India it is sincerely followed. India is known as the 'land of festivals'. Festivals in India are synonymous to joy, happiness and celebration. The rich culture and heritage of India cultivates innumerable festivals which mirror the colorful traditions and customs of this country. Each and every corner of India has its own regional festivals and celebrations. Though the occasions or festivals vary from place to place, the core essence of the festivity remains same everywhere. The phrase 'Unity in diversity' came from this particular point. Bihu, a famous festival of Assam, is one such largely celebrated regional festival. Just as Poila Boisakh in Bengal, Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh, Bihu denominates Assamese New Year. Bihu 2010 is on 15th of April. |
