Nikon’s own compact design and new, thin lens barrel design has resulted in the thinnest body in its class with a 10x optical zoom NIKKOR lens and a depth of approximately 27.3 mm The COOLPIX S8000 is the thinnest camera in its class despite a zoom lens that covers a broad focal range from wide-angle 30mm through super-telephoto 300mm (both 35mm format equivalent). This slim body was made possible with a new lens structure developed to reduce the length of the lens at the maximum telephoto position, a sliding mechanism that helps reduce body thickness when lens is retracted, and a lens-barrier structure that enables a lens barrel with a smaller diameter. |
