News is hitting rapidly on the web that HP will offer touchpad at lower price. 16GB TouchPad will be sold at just $99 and the 32GB TouchPad will be sold at $149. As per PreCentral.net, a memo that declares the lowest cost of Touchpad is reportedly sent by company to its associates, and it will start from Saturday, 20 August 2011. Best Buy Canada and Future Shop resellers have already obtained new pricing so it seems they both will rapidly sell the device. HP and other tablet rivals are facing a problem as they believe it’s sufficient to beat the iPad on paper with hardware specifications, then match prices of Apple but the truth is that their plan does not cut it because iPad 2 is a much improved experience. For that matter, HP rapidly pulled the plug on its whole WebOS mobile ecosystem and its tablet. People speculate about many TouchPad tablets are still sitting on retail shelves. To focus on software and services, company is also thinking to develop its high-volume, but low-profit PC business. As per the suggestion of sources within the tablet manufacturing industry, a price war could be activated by these price cuts from vendors due to non-iPad tablet makers cut margins to obtain price benefits over competitors. |
