On 17 February the social networking site, Facebook added two new relationship statuses: "Civil Union" and "Domestic Partnership” for Gay and lesbian couples. By these two options the same-sex couples can describe their romantic arrangements on Facebook. "Civil Union” and “Domestic Partnership” options were added on Thursday in the U.S., Canada, U.K., France and Australia. These two options will not come into view in the countries where marriages of same-sex are legal. Image source: libdemvoice.org To express love life on Facebook there are currently 11 ways such as Single, Civil Union, Engaged, Domestic Partnership, It’s complicated, In a relationship, Married, In an open relationship, Widowed, Separated and Divorced. The changes were made in conjunction with Facebook's Network of Support group which comprises of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) organizations like the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and Straight Education Network, and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). A number of Facebook users had requested for this feature so Facebook give options for people to genuinely reflect their relationships.
