The Met Office is the UK (United Kingdom’s) national weather service and a trading fund of the Ministry of Defense. The Met Office is responsible for issuing Severe Weather Warnings for the UK through the National Severe Weather Warning Service (NSWWS). These warn of weather events that may affect transport infrastructure and endanger people's lives. The system was improved and a new stage of warning was introduced in March 2008.
