
There are three type of online ticket booking. All these three type will use your online bank accounts or credit cards for payment. Online Book ticket or Railway Ticket Reservation in Western Indian Railway as E-ticket and i-ticket train & Tatkal.
1. E-Ticket Reservation :
When you choose eTicket option, you will be provided a printed ticket. You will require to carry your id proof with you while travelling. An e-ticket can be booked up to the time of chart preparation for your train. This will require entering the identity particulars of one of the passengers, who will have to carry same ID card while traveling. An e-ticket can be booked in Confirmed/RAC/Waitlisted status.
2. i-Ticket Reservation :
When you choose i-Ticket option, you will get tickets to your home within two days of booking. But you are required to book tickets before atleast 3 days. An i-ticket refers to the normal Internet ticket which will be delivered at your door step in 2-3 days. For I-ticket you have to book a ticket at least two days in advance to date of journey to ensure courier delivery. It can be booked in Confirmed/RAC /Waitlisted status.
How to reserve i-Ticket or e-ticket ?
Train No/Name : Enter the train no. Or : type the first few letters of the train name and click on the icon.
From : Enter the station code. Or: type the first few letters of the station name and click on the icon.
To : Enter the station code. Or: type the first few letters of the station name and click on the icon.
Date : Select the date from the list boxes
3. Tatkal Reservation : This facility provides confirmed/Waitlisted E-tickets to passengers on payment of premium on ‘first come first served’ basis in all mail/express trains including Rajadhani, Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi Express trains. Tatkal bookings are not allowed in 1AC. You are not required to carry any identity proof either at the time of booking or during the journey, if you make reservation under tatkal scheme.
By using irctc.co.in you can get Tain Timetable/Schedule of Western Railway, Download Railway timetable Online and also check Waiting List, traffic detail, PNR Status of your reserved ticket and also view train list between two stations of your journey.
Irctc.co.in Online ticket Booking Rules:
1. For normal I-Ticket, booking is permitted at least two clear calendar days in advance of date of journey.
2. For e-Ticket, booking can be done up to chart Preparation approximately 4 to 6 hours before departure of train. For morning trains with departure time up to 12.00 hrs charts are prepared on the previous night.
3. Opening day booking (90th day in advance, excluding the date of journey) will be available only after 8 AM, along with the counters.
IRCTC Ticket Cancellation & Refund Process :
Cancellation of I-Tickets can be done at any computerised reservation counter across the country. To cancel tickets after the above period, surrender the I-Ticket with the Station Master and obtain a Ticket Deposit Receipt.
