Google Chrome OS Screenshot Has been Leaked

Google has announced its new project “Google Chrome OS” and now the first Screenshot of the Chrome OS that have been leaked on the web. The leak comes from someone who has taken extreme measures to remain anonymous. He has quickly formed a Wordpress blog called ‘Chrome OS Leak’, with some first impressions of the OS as well as a few blurry screenshot.

Google Chrome OS is an open source project and it is based on the Linux Kernel. Recently, Freescale, HP, Lenovo, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments, Acer, Asus and also Adobe are supported Google Chrome OS project. To show distinct features of the Chrome OS, Google representatives visited the Acer team. While the Google rep was distracted, the picture above was grabbed eagerly.

Highlights of the demonstration break down as follows

  • Reboots desktop-to-desktop in about 25 seconds
  • The blue orb on the auto-hiding "Chrome Bar" along the bottom of the UI is essentially the start menu
  • The Chrome Bar can also host a search bar if configured
  • Future Chrome OS netbooks will feature an iconified Chrome key on the keyboard similar to the Windows flag key
  • The "elegant" install on the Acer Extensa 4620Z laptop took about 10 minutes and 1 restart
  • It was "amazingly fast" in its stripped-down beta form
  • Navigating the file system can be done in "exploration" (like Windows explorer) or "browser" (search based) modes

Two forms of navigation are present, “Exploration” and “Browser”; the former is a simple Explorer-type folder navigation, while the latter uses local search in the Chrome browser. “Most visited” files” will also showed by it. The person who posted about the Chrome OS noted that the operating system was extremely stripped down and pretty fast. The remaining Screenshot is given below:
