Facebook is one step closer to world domination: after changing what it means to be "friends," the site now plans to re-invent email, shifting how those friends communicate with each other. The social-networking site announced on Monday it has developed a new messaging system eerily similar to email, which gives users an @facebook.com address to communicate with each other. The move, which puts Facebook in direct competition with Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft, is not exactly what it seems. "It's not email," Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said at a press conference. "It's true, people are going to be able to have Facebook.com email addresses, but it's not email." |
