Urinary incontinence is the lack of ability or the failure in controlling the urination. In short it is loss of bladder control. It is a common problem where the individual experiences urine leakage when they cough or sneeze. There are different types of incontinence such as stress incontinence, overflow incontinence, functional incontinence etc.

The various causes of urine incontinence include: urinary tract infection, nerve damage, neurological imbalance and over-hydration or dehydration. The other possible risk factors include: side effects of certain medications, alcoholism, caffeine intake, bladder irritation or weakness of bladder, age factors, and hormonal imbalance, structural abnormalities in urethra, and diabetes and high calcium levels in blood. The main symptoms of urinary incontinence include: strong urge to pass urine, increase in abdominal pressure while laughing, coughing or sneezing.
