SunPower unleashes more efficient solar panels

SunPower, one of the high-efficiency solar cells, systems and panel maker, has announced the debut of its new “SunPower E19 series” solar panels. These solar panels are 19% more efficient than earlier solar panels.

The efficiency is the ratio of total electrical energy generated to the total solar energy fallen on the panel. Higher the efficiency, cheaper will be the cost of using solar energy.

The SunPower E19 achieves this high efficiency by using 3% more surface area per cell and by incorporating antireflective coating over cells that captures great amount of off-angle light. This coating helps in generating more energy per watt than a conventional solar cell. The integration of larger cells and the coating also provides darker and more esthetic look for the panels.
