His first film was Shiva and most recent is Agyaat. With film Rangeela, he gained recognition in Hindi cinema, also known as "Bollywood". He won 6 film fare awards with his Satya film and 7 film fare awards with Company. Kshana Kshanam (1991), Kaun (1999), Jungle (2000), Bhoot (2003), Sarkar (2005) and Sarkar Raj (2008) are his other successful films.
