Parsi New Year Jamshedi Navroz festival Celebration and History

Jamshedi Navroze is one of the three main festivals days in Parsi Calendar. The other being Parsi New year  in August and Khordad  saai, the birthday of Zarathustra.

 

Navroz  falls on March 21st, which is also spring Eqinox. It celebrated in  the world over various  manifestation. it heralds the coming of spring. in Iran it is celebrated as a ten celebration and is the one Zoroastrain festival celebrated in an otherwise Islamic country.

Parsis lay down certain auspicious on the table on the day of New Year. it includes a sacred books, a picture of  Zarathustra, mirror, candles, incense burner,fruits, flowers, a gold fish bowl, sugar, bread and some coins. these things symbolize prosperity and longevity for the family  members. Parsi delicacies play a important role in new year celebretion. A Sweet Ravo (made from sugar,milk,suji) and vermicelli are the best breakfast for Navroz. after breakfast , Whole family visit a nearby Fire Temple or Agiary. They wish each other 'Sal Mubarak '.
