May 9 is celebrated as "National Train Day" on honor of the first transcontinental railroad in the country on May 10, 1869. The Central Pacific and Union Pacific railways were ceremonially joined into 1,776 miles of continuous track. It is the 10th Anniversary of this celebration. There will be major events in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Los Angeles. And will be big celebration with clowns, balloons, live music, information booths, guest speakers, freebies, and a chance to win a trip for two on the Empire Builder with a two-night stay at the Glacier Park Lodge in Montana.The celebration will also feature a Kids’ Corner where children can participate in interactive activities as well as watch jugglers and magicians perform. After 140 years “golden spike” connected east and west its incredible occurrence. There were Huge crowds and the frustrations comes up with the people when they travel with our highway and airports. Trains are more energy efficient mode of travel than either autos or airplanes.
