Glaucoma-Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Glaucoma is defined as a group of eye diseases that ultimately damages the optic nerves and results in weakened eyesight. It is also a major cause of blindness and mainly affects old aged people. It is very difficult to diagnose this disease in the early stages and the individual cannot notice any vision loss until this disease has reached an advanced stage.The different types of glaucoma are: chronic glaucoma, acute glaucoma, secondary glaucoma and congenital glaucoma.
The main causes and risk factors of glaucoma include: genetic or hereditary factors, medicinal side-effects, diabetes, eye injury and other medical conditions such as arthritis, myopia and high blood pressure. The major symptoms of glaucoma are: pain or reddishness in the eyes, blurred vision or loss of vision, loss or peripheral vision, tunnel vision vomiting sensation and nausea.
