Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a common psychological or mental disorder which was earlier called as multiple personality disorder. The individual suffers occurrence of multiple persons i.e. at least two persons, each of them taking control over the individual at for certain period of time. Each of these identities is unique with their own different ways of thinking, memory, thoughts and ideas. The main symptoms of DID include: mental disorders such as depression, mood swings, anxiety, panic attacks and so on, and other symptoms such as headaches, body pains, sexual dysfunction, sleeping and eating disorders etc. the individual also experiences suicidal tendencies, phobias and sometimes get addicted to drug or alcohol abuse. The main causes of DID are: abnormal psychological developments, perceptions of psychological trauma, over stress, mental or emotional abuse. It usually affects in childhood and is very rare to occur at latter ages. |
