Aneurysm is irregular widening or bulging of a section or a part of the artery due to the weakness of the walls of the blood vessels. There are three different types of Aneurysms such as aortic aneurysm, cerebral aneurysm and peripheral aneurysm. There are two types of aortic aneurysm namely: thoracic aortic aneurysm and abdominal aortic aneurysm. Thus the main locations where aneurysm occurs are: heart, brain, legs, intestine and arteries.The cause of Aneurysm is not yet known. However, the possible risk factors include high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, tissue disorders, kidney problems and infections and tumors. In women, pregnancy and consumption of oral contraceptives may be the risk factors. The symptoms depend on the type of the Aneurysm. A few of the symptoms of Aneurysm include: vision impairment, nausea, vomiting, and loss of consciousness, blockages in branches or artery. In severe cases, the bleeding may be more due to ruptured artery. This can cause damage to various organs and ultimately cause death. It can lead to various complications such as ruptured vessel, compression of nerves and various infections. |
