Basil pesto recipe Ingredients and Cook Method
Basil pesto recipe is a simple recipe, it is made for the taste and taste depends on its ingredients. Some people think that it is difficult to make basil pesto, because it is expensive in the stores.
But it is incredibley easy recipe. We can use walnuts in place of pine nuts. We can also use Romano for its stronger flavor. Omit the cheese, if you want to freeze the pesto you make. When you want to use freezed pesto, defrost it and add in grated Parmesan or Romano.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan-Reggiano or Romano cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts
- 3 medium sized garlic cloves, minced
Method
Take a food processor. Put basil and pine nuts in it and beat it for a few times. If you are using walnuts then you have to chop them before mixing with basil. Now add the garlic and beat them for a few times more. Now add the olive oil slowly when the mixer is on. With the help of a rubber spatula, the sides of the food processor stop to scratch downward. Now add the grated cheese and mix it properly. Now spread a pinch of salt and ground black pepper on the mixture to increase its taste.
