Pav Bhaji recipe Making Tips and required Ingredients
Pav Bhaji is an extraordinary dish prepared with lot of vegetables and buns. Originally, Pav Bhaji is a western India recipe. It is served in restaurants and road side stalls. Pav Bhaji is a popular Indian snack also. The word pav bhaji has come from Portuguese word that means bread with vegetable curry. Pav bhaji is very nutritious recipe as it is composed of fats and carbohydrates.
Ingredients:
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
- 1 small head of cauliflower, cut into florets about 3-4 cups
- 1/2 cup peas fresh or frozen
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 green bell pepper, minced
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chili powder or red chili paste
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- salt to taste
- 2-3 cups tomato puree
- 1 tbsp pav-bhaji masala
- 1 tbsp butter
For garnish
- Butter ½ tsp
- finely chopped onions – 1/4 cup
- Fresh green chopped coriander – ¼ cup
- Vegetable oil – ½ cup
Method:
- First, boil the vegetables, potatoes, cauliflower and peas in a pressure cooker.
- After the vegetables are cooked, drain and mash them coarsely.
- Heat oil or butter in a pan, add garlic and ginger pastes and chopped onion, and cook until onions are soft.
- Add tomato, puree, green chilies, turmeric, salt, pav bhaji masala and red pepper.
- Add tomato puree, peas, boiled potatoes and cauliflower and butter.
- Keep continue cooking till the fat separates.
- Keep mashing the vegetables with the stirrer as it cooks.
- Cook for 20-25 minutes to really get the flavors to meld together.
Serve with:
Fried bread in some butter
more pats of butter
sliced onions, and lemon
You can do variation in vegetable like carrots, cabbage according to your taste.
