Works like a charm
Okay, I went through quite an ordeal trying to mess with prongs (which, by the way, one was pushed down and needed to be pried back up), then taking it apart to clean the wheels, and changing the batteries...nothing helped. Then, I thought to try to different new batteries and it worked...guess 2 of my new batteries were old. haha...and it moves A LOT faster ever since I cleaned the wheels

Zhu Zhu Problem
I am 11 years old and when i say these things i got one because they looked cute and i love simple little toys like that. The second day i had my little Scoodles he would make noises but not move. (By the way, these things are cool and fun for most ages and kids who are pleased easily) The thing is with some of them is that they come with batteries included, but the batteries are really cheap and low quality, so as soon as you get one replace the batteries with a big name brand like energizer or something and it will go zooming, but when you get it, it goes slowly and can't move on carpet.
So if it acts up, try replacing teh batteries before doing anything else. that might be the problem;.

How to Fix your Zhu Zhu Pet (the completely clear explanation).
Hi, my name is Rachel and I am 13 years of age. I got a Zhu Zhu Pet and so did my sister. I got them two days before something very very unfortunate happened. Poor little Scoodles had stop scampering. My little hammy was fine, but Scoodles just wouldn't move. After much fiddling with 6 different tweezers and 2 screw divers, I read this page and came to a happy ending. I fix Scoodles.
OKAY onto the explanation:
1. undo the the bottom of the hamster with a screw. this bottom encases the motor that propels the hamster and the wheel mechanism. DO NOT OPEN THE BOTTOM PIECE.
Put this bottom piece aside and look into the now hollow, shell-like hamster Zhu Zhu. Look (on the inside) to the front of the Hammy. You will see two swirly pieces of metal. In my case one of the swirly pieces of metal (lets call em prongs) was half into the hole in which it emerges from (when it is normal).
If the prong is half or fully in you must CAREFULLY fiddle and pull (yes, you can use some strength) the prong. This is vital to it being fixed. It may not seem so, but let me tell you it is very important.
Once you have exposed the once hidden prong, you must pull it as high as it will go, DO NOT PULL IT TO HARD, for that can ruin the whole fixing process.
Now go back to the bottom piece you have set aside. If rotate the piece you will see two metal squares. those are where the prongs connect to the motor! Simple, right?! Even a little 13 year old figure it out. ;D
So, now you should be able to put everything back to together, it should work.

Thank 'yall for the tips on making it run my sister had it for A LONG time and all it did was make noises, but i changed the batteries, adjusted the prongs and put a peice of paper in it, and it worked like a charm THANK YOU EVERYONE! =) =)

well it is maybe because you
well it is maybe because you it has hair in it because my little sisters have on and hers stop working so i checked it and it had hair on it so i took it out and it started working again. The zhu Zhu pets are not suppose to have hair in the wheel or it will stop working, it is just like a regular animla because it is so smart. well i hope i helped you alot!!!!!! have a nice day :)

simple fix first!
Thank you to those who posted to CHANGE THE BATTERY. My daughter got her hair caught in hers the first hour she had it (ouch!). It was fine for a day after being cleaned, but then today it stopped moving-but it would make all the noises. After an hour of cleaning disassembling and all other forms of mad science, I read this forum. I figured it wasn't the battery since her sister's pet worked fine but tried the battery anyway. HOORAY! I suppose what they say is true-try the simple fix FIRST! Thanks a bunch everyone!

I thought mine was broken too...
My daughter's worked fine, but my son's stopped moving after a few weeks. It still made noises, so I tried all of the helpful advice about cleaning the wheels and his were full from running it on the carpet. After putting it together, it still wouldn't move, so I swapped his wheel compartment w/ my daughter's. The wheels wouldn't go, so it actually turned out to be the main part. It turns out that even though the hamster is still making noises, if the wheels aren't working, then the batteries are probably dying. I put two brand new AAAs in his and it's working great! I hope this can help someone.

non working zhu zhu pet how to make it run
all you really have to do is change the batteries and if that doesnt work take a tweezers and remove all hair and string dustbunnies from all wheels. ABSULUTLY ALL PARTS HAVE TO BE REMOVED AND PUT BACK TOGETHER. you need to remove the screw from the back of the hamster and pull the motor and tires free from the body turn the tires forward and backword to make sure the engine is running free. make sure you clean EVERYTHING!. put back together and have fun.GO GO ZHU ZHU PETS! ZOOM ZOOM!

Zhu Zhu not moving?
My sister's did not move, it just made little noises, I unscrewed the little box at the bottom, to reveal the batteries. On the box with wheels, there are little mettle clips that are so power gets from the batteries, to the wheel. Take a screwdriver, and push it under them to bump them foward JUST A LITTLE BIT, oh and, try not to break them off. Then put the box back in, screw it in. If it still doesnt work, fold up a peice of paper a little thick, and stuff it in betweem the plastic, and the fur of the tail. That got my sister's working

Mine quit working already....
I got one for my daughter for christmas. She has played with it on and off for three days and now it wont work anymore. I have not opened the battery compartment or anything so I have done nothing to it. It makes the noises but wont move or even attempt to. Any suggestions?

My Zhu Zhu won't run
My daughter got her Zhu Zhu for xmas and just a few hours into playing he quit running correctly and then completely quit moving. He still makes all the correct sounds, but the wheels don't spin. I am very disappointed in this toy. I have tried all the suggestions on the page to get him to move, but none of them is working.

Zhu Zhu pet battery replacement
When you replace the batteries, be sure and NOT screw the screws back in too tight. The zhu zhu's won't go because the connector will be crushed. If it happens, just carefully pry the little metal prongs up and then replace the carriage (but not so tight).

I figured out how to make it work
I had the same problem. Very frustrating. But I fixed it and now its running all over the place. SO here is what I did. You take the part of the hamster with the wheels on it - the motor thing you remove to replace the batteries (the piece with the screw in it) - just trying to be clear. On the end opposite the screw there are two little metal connectors. Take a small screwdriver or screw or nail or something and carefully pry those things up so that they will make better contact with the little wire looking connectors on the inside of the body of the hamster. Just be careful so you don't break them. Put it all back together and let it go. It worked perfectly for me which is a miracle because I too couldn't get anyone at the company, the place I bought it or find out how to fix in the lousy instructions that come with it. Saved me from throwing it against the wall too! Ha ha. Good luck.
