An American rock band, The White Stripes has officially declared it’s splitting on Wednesday. For that reason, the groundbreaking rock duo Jack and Meg White will not appear together for composing any new recordings or giving live performance. Image source: from flickr, by michael morel Jack White and his ex-wife Meg White launched the rock band group named “The White Stripes” in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. During the White Stripes’ extreme and awesome career, they have released six studio albums that included "Seven Nation Army," "We're Going to Be Friends," and "Fell in Love with a Girl." Jack was the singer and guitarist and Meg was drummer for band. Their most famous songs include Hotel Yorba, Fell in Love with a Girl and Seven Nation Army. The band was also awarded with many awards including five Grammys and one Brit award. At the beginning, Jack and Meg were presented themselves as siblings; they did not say on their original relationship. But in fact, both were married in 1996 and divorced in March 2000. Throughout their band career, the band gave performance in numerous major UK festivals with Glastonbury in 2005. Lastly, White Stripes recorded the live album "Under the Great White Northern Lights" and was launched last year with an accompanying DVD documentary. In the released statement on The White Stripes band's website, the band duo says that they "will make no further new recordings or perform live." Jack and Meg stated the reason for the splitting that it was not "due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues." As per statement, they expect that their fans must not be upset for the band's demise, but show a "positive move" out of respect for the band’ art and music. The band stated in statement conclusion, “The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.” |
