In a surprising finish, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson was named the winner of season 8 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
Three participators remained going in to tonight’s show: Johnson, Melissa Rycroft and Gilles Marini. Each contestant was asked to perform one final dance, with the panel of judges giving a perfect score of 30 for each performance. Shawn Johnson told the audience after her victory, “This has been the best experience ever. I have grown so much.” The Dancing with the Stars Season 8 winner was strong-minded to be Shawn Johnson and her professional partner Mark Ballas. Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke took second place, and Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani placed third. But teen gymnast Shawn Johnson showed that dancing isn't the game; fan voting is.
