Alexis Cohen Killed: "American Idol" Contestant Died

Alexis Cohen of Allentown, a 25 years old former American Idol contestant was killed in the early morning on Saturday, July 25th 2009 in Seaside Heights, New Jersey after being hit by a car, according to the Ocean County (N.J.) prosecutor's office.

Two pedestrians found Cohen’s body in the street and called the police at 911. She was found lying unconscious on Dupont Avenue at about 4am on Saturday. She was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J., where she was pronounced dead about 6:35 a.m.

Deputy Police Chief Michael Mohel told that an autopsy indicated that she suffered chest, head and abdominal injuries. He added that investigators are seeking more information about the collision.

Cohen had reportedly appeared for the auditions of both 2008 and 2009 seasons of “American Idol.” When she auditioned for American Idol, she failed to receive her ticket to Hollywood on both occasions.

The reason of the death is said to be the result of an accident that she had encountered when she had been struck down by a car in the shore town of Seaside Heights in New Jersey.
