Adam Lambert sang "A Change is Gonna Come" on the American Idol 8 Finale performance episode on May 19, 2009. He gave outstanding and best performance of "A Change is Gonna Come" a song chosen by producer Simon Fuller. What a great choice of this song! He was done this song before, he knew what he was doing.
Adam showcased all his strengths, went from that incredible low to that unreal high, and was awesome on everything in between. The judge was also impressed on his amazing performance. Randy said about this performance, “The real reason you are here is you can sing your face off and that is unbelievable“and Paula also said, “The best that I’ve heard. This song "A Change is Gonna Come" was written and sang by great singer Sam Cooke in 1964. It was included on the last studio album released in Cooke's lifetime. This song recorded in 1963 and released shortly after Sam’s death 1964. The song was inspired by the accidental drowning of Cooke's 18-month-old son in June 1963.
