Srinagar's first snowfall of the season

Srinagar has received its first snowfall of the season. But life has come to a standstill with travel services and electricity affected. Breaking nearly two-month-long dry spell, most parts of the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, on Sunday (January 3) experienced snowfall, the second in this season so far, MeT officials said.

The snowfall, which started around 11 am in Srinagar and adjoining areas, also brought respite to the people from the cold wave sweeping Jammu and Kashmir for the past fortnight. The first snowfall of the season was experienced on November 8-10 when the entire valley was wrapped in white blanket.
