To create a national sex offender registry, the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness introduced draft legislation, on 1 April 2004. It was proclaimed as law and on 15 December 2004, came into force. To enhance public protection, this national registration system works, police helps in identify possible suspects.
