India's music genius A.R. Rahman has been nominated in the Grammy Awards category of ‘Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media for the track "Jai ho". Rahman is nominated first time for Grammy nomination. The 44-year-old A. R. Rahman has also been nominated in the category of ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media’ for the film Slumdog Millionaire. The song 'Jai Ho' was written by lyricist Gulzar and has been sung by Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Vijay Prakash and Rahman himself. For the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”, Rahman won two Oscars and also the best original score award at the 2009 Golden Globe Award. Rahman is popularly known as Isai Puyal (The Music Storm) and Time magazine has referred him as the "Mozart of Madras". The 52th edition of the Annual Grammy Awards will be presented on January 31, 2010 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Well, in the best traditional world music album category, Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan also got a Grammy nomination. He has been nominated for the album "Ancient Sounds", a joint-venture with Iraqi oud soloist Rahim Alhaj. |
