Willem Dafoe is off to Mars

Andrew Stanton has nabbed one of his Finding Nemo voices to join the cast of John Carter Of Mars: Willem Dafoe.

The thesp has signed on to play Tars Tarkas, one of the red planet's most powerful warriors, but unusual among his brutal race for his ability to love.

All together now: Aaaaah.

He teams up with John Carter (a Civil War veteran transported to Mars) and fights by his side through several battles, meaning Dafoe will be cropping up in sequels.

Wolverine's Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins are already aboard as Carter and the Princess of Mars, since the first film will be based off Edgar Rice Burroughs' book A Princess Of Mars.
