The story starts with the wonderful girl Alice, 17 years old who attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find that she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of superior society people. She runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, which is a place where she visited 10 years before but she does not remember it. We will see the details of all the characters in the movie:

Mia Wasikowska plays the role of Alice:

Mia Wasikowska is 19-year-old Australian actress earned significant honor in last year’s HBO drama "In Treatment." She performed in the WWII drama “Defiance”, and was named as "10 Actors to Watch” in one of the Variety magazine. The director of the movie Tim Burton told that he selected her as she has a certain kind of emotional toughness that makes her as an older person but the mentality is of younger person. She is the only character in wonderland that does not have any makeup or digital manipulation done on her.

Johnny Depp plays the role of Mad Hatter:

Tim Burton is working seventh time with Johnny Depp over the past 20 years. Burton told the Los Angeles Times that he likes to work with him as he does not like to be the same way twice and he always wants to do different role in the movie. Especially this kind of thinking of different look is liked by Burton.

Anne Hathaway plays the role of white Queen:

Hathaway looks very different in the role with her long white hair and her appearance is not digitally manipulated in the movie. She told MTV that she is happy to get chance to work with Burton and she was eager to do scenes with Johnny Depp as she is a great fan of him.

Helena Bonham Carter plays the role of Red queen:

In the movie Alice in Wonderland, Bonham Carter will be digitally enlarged three times then her actual size. She has worked with Burton in five previous movies. The Red Queen is the bad character of the second book, "Through the Looking Glass," though in many adaptations the character is combined with the Queen of Hearts from the first story.

Matt Lucas plays the role of Tweedledee and Tweedledum:

English comedian Matt Lucas is well known in the U.K. as half of the sketch comedy team on the show "Little Britain." Tweedledee and Tweedledum have appeared in several versions of movie "Alice in Wonderland," including Walt Disney's 1951 animated film, though they actually don't appear until "Through the Looking-Glass”.

There are many more characters that will appear in the movie like Michael Sheen plays the White Rabbit, Alan Rickman is the Caterpillar, Steven Fry is the Cheshire cat, Crispin Glover is the Knave of Hearts and Christopher Lee will be the Jabberwock.
