Stephen Chow officially off Green Hornet

Posted By totalfilm.com on Jul 15, 2009   FROM: imdb.com report abuse

Rumours have been floating for a while that Stephen Chow had decided not to be involved with Green Hornet and now they're confirmed.

Ain't It Cool got a statement from Sony that reveals there has been a parting of the ways.

"There was a mutual and amicable decision by both sides to move on. We are out now to cast a new Kato and remain fully committed to Michel Gondry's exciting vision for the film, which will begin production this September."

Chow had originally been attached to direct and star as Kato, the Hornet's trusty, ass-smashing side-kick, but recently his schedule has seemed a little too packed to allow him to stay on board.

So now the film needs a new Hornet. Might Tony Jaa fill his place? Or is there some young, undiscovered martial arts talent waiting for that big break...

Sorry to see Chow go? Who could take his place? Suggestions, please...
