According to Multicannel News and offcial website Stargate Atlantis will have their current season finale on January 9th 2009 which will include multiple marathons.
In January “Stargate: Atlantis” will end its run on the SCI FI Channel after five successful seasons, but that does not mark the end of the adventures in the Pegasus Galaxy.
The Atlantis story will then continue in a two-hour movie. The as-yet-untitled movie will run on Sci Fi and soonafter be released on DVD.
Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone

A BIG problem
Scifi, if you are listening, hear this wisdom.
When you canceled SG1, you at least had a parallel show (Atlantis) running at the same time, so users would have somewhere else in the Stargate universe to get into.
With canceling Atlantis without giving users another thread to continue with on a weekly basis, you are going to lose a LOT of followers of the Stargate universe. Why? Simply because people need a show to get into, with a background that they like. You are not giving people an option, they are going to have to go elsewhere because you are essentially leaving them high and dry.
Sancutary does not count by the way, even though a fun show it is not the same universe, and is not a very deep show.

Another Stargate Program Cancelled
All the Stargate programs are being cancelled, once again. It just shows the viewers, that you don't
care about us. What the producers need to do is, start listening to the viewers. We all know, that won't
happen. I hope for your sake, by taking SG1 and SGA, it won't come back and haunt you. And as for the
SciFi Channel. It better come up with something better than or just as good as, Star Trek, SG1 and SGA. If not,they may lose alot of fans including me.

WTF is SciFi's problem?? They end all the good show that everybody loves and watches religiously and replace them with stupid "filler" show!!! Atlantis is one of the best scifi shows out there besides the original SG-1. Atlantis you will truley be missed... R.I.P

Stargate Atlantis cancelled.
I'm terribly dissapointed to find out this show is being cancelled so soon after I have discovered it. Just three months ago I watched it for the first time. It's quickly become a favorite with my family and freinds. So sad to now we will be seeing less of this great show. DVD movie will not fill the gap the end of this series creates at all.
