Sony drops the Moneyball

Talk about cold feet… Sony has decided to shut down production on Steven Soderbergh’s new pic Moneyball just three days before it’s due to kick off shooting.

Despite the presence of Brad Pitt in the lead, the studio’s boss Amy Pascal apparently wasn’t happy with the latest draft of the script as penned by Steven Zaillian.

According to Variety, the film is now in “limited turnaround”, which means Sony is effectively dumping it but Soderbergh and Pitt are free to offer the project to other studios.

They’ve apparently spent the weekend shopping it around the likes of Warners to try and get a different company to take it over.
