Ridley Scott is working on a new web series that takes its lead from one of his most famous films – yes, Blade Runner. Sadly, Scott, brother Tony Scott and indie studio Ag8 don’t actually have the rights to use the Blade Runner trademarks and characters. “We don’t take any of the canon or copyrighted assets from the movie,” Ag8’s David Bausola tells MTV. “It’s actually based on the same themes as Blade Runner. “It’s the search for what it means to be human and understanding the notion of empathy.’” Um, okay… Still, it’s “inspired” by the movie and will definitely take place in a startlingly similar near-future universe. There are few details on what it will actually be about, yet, though - but we do know it’ll take ideas from viewers as to the plot’s direction and also utilise Blade Runner’s trick of including lots of real-world product placement. More on this as we find it… [Source: MTV]
