Ready for Bruno: The Teen Edit?

Posted By totalfilm.com on Jul 13, 2009   FROM: imdb.com report abuse

Universal UK is planning to release an edited version of Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno with a 15 certificate on 24th July.

The alternate version – with some of the ruder moments trimmed – will run alongside the original, 18-rated, full-frontal cut.

It’s a historic moment for UK cinema – there’s never been a move like this before, with two version of one film on release at the same time.

And that’s despite the fact that the first cut topped the box office at the weekend.

According to the Universal bods, the move is being made so that “younger fans” can see the film.

“Due to the overwhelming demand by fans who are desperate to see the film, we’re really pleased to be able to offer a 15-certificate version,” explains Universal International president David Kosse. “Both of these versions will allow many more of Bruno’s fans in the UK to enjoy the film.”

Oh, and it’ll let them make more money…

Would you want to see an edited version of the film? Are you glad to hear about this? Tell us!
