Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have been talking about the problems they’re having getting the remake of The Birds to fly. With word yesterday that the Akira remake seems to be back in limbo, it’s not a good week for remakes, but then attempting to redo a Hitchcock film is never an easy task. Just ask Gus Van Sant. Naomi Watts was attached at one point, but now everything is up in the air. So what’s the issue with The Birds? It appears to be a mixture of its heritage and, possibly more importantly, the central menace. “It’s the limitations that birds... What do they do? They peck and poke, Fuller tells Horror Squad. “And poop,” adds Fuller. “You start with the sh***ing and you build up to pecking and then they poke.” So why even bother sticking with it? “As a producer, you pursue a bunch of things and the ones that come to fruition, you make and the other ones you try and it's a good effort,” says Fuller. Talking of troublesome remakes for the company, the pair get a little more confusing when chatting about Rosemary’s Baby, which reportedly got shut down last year. Now it’s apparently back on. Maybe… “Whoever's criticizing "Rosemary's Baby" hasn't read Scott Kosar's – we're calling it "Rosemary's Baby," but we're not doing that movie,” says Fuller. “But they haven't read Scott Kosar's script, which is now called "The Sacrifice." They haven't read that script, so when they can criticize something they know nothing about, that doesn't resonate with me.” So is it called Rosemary’s Baby? Or not? Is it just using the title? Will it be called The Sacrifice? We’ll have to wait and see… [Source: Horror Squad] Do you want The Birds to happen? Or not? Squawk up!
